Here is the correct way to measure your miniature cattle.

Place the cattle on solid even ground (this was for example only). A chute with a concrete footing is good. Not all cattle will be this cooperative.

Use a measuring stick available from animal health stores or an adjustable carpenter's square from your local hardware or home improvement center.

Place at the top of the pelvis across the back directly over the hook bones. Cattle are not measured at the shoulder (like horses) because many breeds have humps or fat pads.

 

    The height, sex, and age of the cattle is then used to determine a frame score using the charts below.

    With this chart, you can usually determine what the mature size will be.

    This is intended for a "guideline" only and there is no guarantee of mature size since cattle mature at different rates.
